• External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj begins a five-day visit to South Africa today; to participate in BRICS and IBSA foreign Ministers meet.

• विदेश मंत्री सुषमा स्वराज की दक्षिण अफ्रीका की पांच दिन की यात्रा शुरू। ब्रिक्स और इब्सा विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक में हिस्सा लेंगी।

A report:

"During her stay in South Africa, Mrs Swaraj will visit the Phoenix Settlement, a South African Heritage site, marking the place that served as Mahatma Gandhiji’s home. This is the place where Gandhiji developed his philosophy of non-violence. Mrs Swaraj will also participate in a series of events on June 6 th and 7th, at Pietermaritzburg, to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the historic incident in the train compartment that became a catalyst for Gandhiji’s Satyagraha movement. India and South Africa enjoy close and friendly relations which are rooted in our history and the values of south-south cooperation.

Earlier, Mrs Swaraj made a transit halt in Mauritius yesterday to meet Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, on her way to South Africa. In a tweet, the MEA spokesperson said enhancing the ties between India and Mauritius was the focus of the meeting.

 दक्षिण अफ्रीका में विदेश मंत्री सुषमा स्वराज वहां के धरोहर स्थल फीनिक्स सेटलमेंट जाएंगी। फीनिक्स बस्ती एक समय महात्मा गांधी का निवास स्थल रही, जहां उन्होंने अपने अहिंसा दर्शन को और सुदृढ़ किया। श्रीमती स्वराज छह और सात जून को पीटरमारिज़बर्ग में महात्मा गांधी के साथ ट्रेन में हुई घटना के 125 वर्ष पूरे होने पर आयोजित कई कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेंगी।

श्रीमती स्वराज ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका जाते हुए कल थोड़ी देर के लिए मॉरीशस में रुककर वहां के प्रधानमंत्री प्रविंद कुमार जगनाथ से भेंट की। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ने ट्वीट में बताया है कि बैठक में भारत और मॉरीशस के सम्बन्ध और मजबूत करने पर चर्चा हुई।

• India successfully test-fires indigenously developed nuclear capable long range Ballistic missile Agni-5 off Odisha coast.

• भारत ने देश में विकसित परमाणु सक्षम लंबी दूरी की बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल अग्नि-5 का ओडि़शा तट से सफल परीक्षण किया।

India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed nuclear capable Long Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-5 from the Abdul Kalam Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast at 9:50 this morning. The state-of-the-art surface-to-surface missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has a strike range of 5,000 kilometres. It can carry a nuclear warhead of more than one tonne. It is about 17 metres long, 2 metres wide and has launch weight of around 50 tonnes.

भारत ने स्वदेश में विकसित परमाणु क्षमता वाली लंबी दूरी की बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल अग्नि-5 का सफल परीक्षण किया। यह परीक्षण ओडिशा तट पर अब्दुल कलाम द्वीप से आज सुबह 9 बजकर 50 मिनट पर किया गया। रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन द्वारा विकसित यह अत्याधुनिक मिसाइल 5,000 किलोमीटर तक जमीन से जमीन पर मार कर सकती है। यह मिसाइल एक टन से अधिक वजन का परमाणु अस्‍त्र ले जा सकती है। लगभग 50 टन वजन वाली इस मिसाइल की लंबाई लगभग 17 मीटर और चौड़ाई 2 मीटर है।

• Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan urges students to help overcome plastic pollution as India gears up to host World Environment Day on Tuesday.

• मंगलवार को भारत में विश्‍व पर्यावरण दिवस के आयोजन से पहले पर्यावरण मंत्री हर्षवर्धन का विद्यार्थियों से प्‍लास्टिक प्रदूषण पर काबू पाने में सहयोग देने का आग्रह।

Environment Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has urged students to become environment protectors and help the government and society overcome the menace( खतरा ) of plastic pollution. The Minister was addressing a gathering of over 10,000 school children in New Delhi today, who had assembled to participate in Envithon - a mini-marathon, organised in the run-up to the World Environment Day to be observed on Tuesday.

पर्यावरण मंत्री डॉक्‍टर हर्षवर्धन ने स्‍कूली बच्‍चों से पर्यावरण-रक्षक बनकर प्‍लास्टिक प्रदूषण के खतरे से निपटने में सरकार और समाज का हाथ बंटाने को कहा है। डॉक्‍टर हर्षवर्धन आज नई दिल्‍ली में एनविथॉन यानी पर्यावरण संरक्षण का संदेश देने के लिए आयोजित दौड़ में भाग लेने के लिए एकत्र हुए 10,000 स्‍कूली बच्‍चों को सम्‍बोधित कर रहे थे।  इस दौड़ का आयोजन मंगलवार को आयोजित किये जाने वाले विश्‍व पर्यावरण दिवस के सिलसिले में किया गया।

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will meet the top leadership of South Africa today on the first day of her five-day official visit. In a tweet, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, the Minister will participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting tomorrow and chair the IBSA Foreign Ministers Meeting during her visit.

विदेशमंत्री सुषमा स्वराज आज से दक्षिण अफ्रीका की पांच दिन की यात्रा पर हैं। इस दौरान वे दक्षिण अफ्रीका के शीर्ष नेतृत्व से भेंट करेंगी। श्रीमती स्वराज कल ब्रिक्स देशों के विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक में भाग लेंगी। वे इब्सा के विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक की अध्यक्षता भी करेंगी।

• US asserts that North Korea will receive relief from sanctions only if it takes solid steps for denuclearisation. 

• अमरीका ने कहा कि परमाणु निरस्‍त्रीकरण के लिए उत्‍तर कोरिया की ओर से ठोस कदम उठाने के बाद ही उसे प्रतिबंधों से राहत मिलेगी।

The United States says North Korea will receive any sanctions relief only when it demonstrates verifiable and irreversible steps to denuclearisation. Defence Secretary Jim Mattis made the comments at a security conference in Singapore today ahead of a planned summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un. Mattis said, it is vital that the international community keeps UN Security Council sanctions in place for now.

South Korean and Japanese Defence ministers also attended the meeting. South Korean Defence Minister Song Young-moo said, at this moment, Seoul is steadfastly committed to strengthening even further the defence co-operation with Pyongyang as the best means to preserving peace.

अमरीका ने कहा है कि परमाणु निरस्‍त्रीकरण की दिशा में प्रामाणिक कदम उठाने के बाद ही उत्‍तर कोरिया को प्रतिबंधों से राहत दी जा सकती है। रक्षामंत्री जेम्‍स मैटीस ने अमरीकी राष्‍ट्रपति डोनल्‍ड ट्रम्‍प और उत्‍तर कोरिया के नेता किम जांग उन के बीच होने वाली आगामी बैठक से पहले आज सिंगापुर में सुरक्षा सम्‍मेलन में यह बात कही।

Information and Broadcasting Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore has congratulated the entire DRDO team for successfully test firing the Nuclear capable Long Range Ballistic Missile Agni-5. In a tweet, Mr Rathore said, the new addition will give a major boost to the country's defence capabilities.

रक्षामंत्री निर्मला सीतारामन ने अग्नि 5 की सफलता के लिए रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन के वैज्ञानिकों, कर्मचारियों, सशस्‍त्र बलों और उद्योगों को बधाई दी है।

सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्री कर्नल राज्‍यवर्धन राठौड़ ने परमाणु क्षमता वाली लम्‍बी दूरी की बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल अग्नि पांच के सफल परीक्षण पर रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन के पूरे दल को बधाई दी है। कर्नल राठौड़ ने ट्वीट कर कहा है कि अग्नि के इस नये संस्‍करण से देश की रक्षा क्षमताओं में बड़ा इजाफा होगा।

• G7 Finance Ministers ask US President Donald Trump not  to  impose new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

• जी-7 देशों के वित्‍त मंत्रियों ने अमरीका के राष्‍ट्रपति डोनल्‍ड ट्रम्‍प से इस्‍पात और एल्‍युमिनियम के आयात पर नये शुल्‍क लगाने का फैसला वापस लेने को कहा।

The Finance Ministers of Group of Seven nations have urged US President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to impose new tariffs on steel and aluminium imports. The group has ended it's annual meeting at Whistler in Canada. US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin faced sharp criticism from the Finance Ministers of other G-7 nations over the issue. The group that inculdes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, expressed  unanimous concern and disappointment to the US President. The United States is also a part of this group. Canadian Finance Minister Bill Morneau said, discussions should continue at the G7 leaders' summit beginning  Friday in Quebec.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said, the participants had tense discussions, describing the meeting as far more a G6-plus-one than a G7.

Germany Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said, US tariffs were a very severe problem for transatlantic relations.

After Mr Mnuchin faced criticism over the US decision, US President Donald Trump said in a tweet that Washington cannot afford to lose a trade war when it is being ripped off.

जी-7 देशों के वित्‍त मंत्रियों ने अमरीका के राष्‍ट्रपति डोनल्‍ड ट्रम्‍प से इस्‍पात और अल्‍मूनियम के आयात पर नये शुल्‍क लगाने का फैसला वापस लेने को कहा है। कनाडा के व्हिसलर में आयोजित इस बैठक में जी-7 देशों के वित्‍त मंत्रियों ने इस मुद्दे पर अमरीकी वित्‍त मंत्री स्‍टीवन म्‍नुचिन की कड़ी आलोचना की। कनाडा ने कहा कि अमरीका के इस फैसले से अन्‍य देशों को निराशा हुई है। इस बीच, अमरीकी राष्‍ट्रपति डॉनल्‍ड ट्रंप ने ट्वीट कर कहा है कि अमरीका व्‍यापारिक हित के मुद्दे पर कोई समझौता नहीं करेगा।
