• Reserve Bank to announce its second bi-monthly Monetary Policy of 2018-19 today.
• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक 2018-19 की दूसरी द्विमासिक मौद्रिक नीति की आज घोषणा करेगा।

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will announce its second bi-monthly Monetary Policy of 2018-19 this afternoon. The Monetary Policy Committee, headed by RBI Governor Urjit Patel, began its meeting in Mumbai on Monday, and it will meet today as well before the policy is announced. Our correspondent reports this is the first time the six-member committee is meeting for three days instead of the usual two, due to certain administrative exigencies.

 "Experts believe the RBI is likely to announce an interest rate hike due to rising crude prices and higher inflation. This is despite higher GDP growth rate of 7.7 percent in the January-March quarter and the forecast of a normal monsoon. The last rate hike was announced in January 2014 when the short-term lending rate or repo rate was increased to 8 percent. Since then, RBI has either reduced the rate or maintained status quo. The current repo rate stands at 6 percent. 

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक आज दोपहर चालू वित्त वर्ष के लिए अपनी दूसरी द्विमासिक मौद्रिक नीति की घोषणा करेगा। रिजर्व बैंक के गवर्नर उर्जित पटेल की अध्यक्षता में मौद्रिक नीति समिति की सोमवार को मुंबई में बैठक शुरू हुई। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि नीति की घोषणा से पहले आज फिर बैठक होगी।

विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि जनवरी-मार्च तिमाही में सात दशमलव सात प्रतिशत की उच्च जीडीपी वृद्धि दर और सामान्य मॉनसून के पूर्वानुमान के बावजूद उच्च मुद्रास्फीति के चलते ब्याज दरों में वृद्धि की संभावना है। यह भी माना जा रहा है कि आरबीआई अपना रुख 'न्यूट्रल' से 'विदड्रावल ऑफ एकोमोडेशन' करेगा। जनवरी 2014 में अंतिम दर वृद्धि की घोषणा की गई थी जब रेपो दर आठ प्रतिशत तक बढ़ी थी। वर्तमान रेपो दर 6 प्रतिशत है।

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will expand his Cabinet this afternoon with more than 20 ministers likely to take oath. Official sources said, Governor Vajubhai Vala will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru at 2:12 PM. A report from our correspondent :

"The Ministry expansion exercise has been complicated for both Congress and JD(S), as hectic parleys and lobbying were on for the last fifteen days. It is now decided that Congress will get the portfolios of Home, Irrigation, Bangalore City Development, Industry, Rural Development, Agriculture, Law and Parliamentary Affairs among others. The JDS' portfolios include Finance, Excise, Information, Intelligence, Public Works Department, Power, Cooperation, Tourism, Education and Transport. कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री एच.डी. कुमारस्वामी आज अपने मंत्रिमंडल का विस्तार करेंगे। इस विस्तार में बीस से अधिक मंत्रियों के शपथ लेने की संभावना है। सरकारी सूत्रों ने बताया कि राज्यपाल वजू भाई वाला बेंगलुरु में राजभवन में दोपहर दो बजकर बारह मिनट पर नये मंत्रियों को पद और गोपनीयता की शपथ दिलाएंगे। 
कांग्रेस और जेडीएस द्वारा पिछले पन्द्रह दिनों से मंत्रिमंडल के विस्तार पर बहस हो रही थी। अभी दोनों पार्टियों ने निर्णय लिया है कि कांग्रेस को गृहमंत्रालय, सिंचाईं, बैंगलौर विकास, उद्योग, ग्रामीण विकास, कृषि, कानून और संसदीय व्यवहार मंत्रालय प्राप्त होगा। जेडीएस को वित्त मंत्रालय, एक्साइज, सूचना, गुप्तचर विभाग, लोकनिर्माण, ईंधन, पर्यटन, शिक्षा और संचार मंत्रालय मिलेंगे।

• जी 7 देशों के नेता शुक्रवार को उत्‍तर कोरिया से अपील करेंगे कि यदि वह अपने देश के खिलाफ लगाये गये प्रतिबंध हटवाना चाहता है तो अपने परमाणु हथियार नष्‍ट करे। 

G7 leaders will call on North Korea on Friday to get rid of its nuclear weapons, if it wants sanctions against the country to be lifted. A senior European Union official said this yesterday. G7 countries comprises the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, France, Germany and Italy.

 जी 7 देशों के नेता शुक्रवार को उत्‍तर कोरिया से अपील करेंगे कि यदि वह अपने देश के खिलाफ लगाये गये प्रतिबंध हटवाना चाहता है तो अपने परमाणु हथियार नष्‍ट करे। जी 7 देशों में अमरीका, कनाडा, जापान, ब्रिटेन, फ्रांस, जर्मनी और इटली शामिल हैं। इन देशों के नेताओं की कनाडा में आठ और नौ जून को बैठक होनी है।

अमरीकी राष्‍ट्रपति डोनाल्‍ड ट्रम्‍प और उत्‍तर कोरिया के नेता किम जोंग उन के बीच 12 जून को होने वाली शिखर बैठक सिंगापुर में सेनटोसा द्वीप में कैपेल्‍ला होटल में होगी। श्री ट्रम्‍प ने आशा व्‍यक्‍त की है कि वे उत्‍तर कोरिया के साथ किसी परमाणु समझौते पर पहुंच पायेंगे।

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is on South Africa tour,  will visit Heritage site Phoenix Settlement in Durban today, a place where Mahatma Gandhi developed his philosophy of non-violence. She will also participate in a series of events at Pietermaritzburg today and tomorrow to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the historic incident in the train compartment that became a catalyst for Gandhiji's Satyagraha movement.

"On the night of June 7, 1893, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a young lawyer then, was thrown off the train's first class compartment at Pietermaritzburg station for refusing to give up his seat. The incident led him to develop his Satyagraha principles of peaceful resistance and mobilise people in South Africa and in India against the discriminatory rules of the British. The film, a co-production between India and South Africa, was made in 1996. The commemoration continues over the next two days with events spearheaded by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. These include a special train ride with an engine and coaches bedecked with 400 metres of khadi cloth brought in from India.  

On Sunday, Mrs Swaraj had reached Johannesburg and met with President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties between India and South Africa.

• RBI hikes key policy repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25 percent for the first time since January 2014; reverse repo rate stands adjusted to 6.0 percent.

• रिजर्व बैंक ने रेपो दर एक चौथाई प्रतिशत बढ़ाई, जनवरी 2014 के बाद यह दर पहली बार छह दशमलव दो-पांच प्रतिशत हुई। रिवर्स रेपो दर छह प्रतिशत।

For the first time since January 2014, the Reserve Bank today announced a 25 basis point hike in the key policy rate. In its second bi-monthly monetary policy review, the six member Monetary Policy Committee headed by RBI Governor Urjit Patel unanimously hiked the policy repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25 percent. Consequently, the reverse repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility now stands at 6 percent.

"While predicting a slight rise in inflation numbers, RBI has however retained its neutral policy stance and the GDP growth outlook at 7.4 percent for FY19. The six member Monetary Policy Committee has noted that domestic economic activity is exhibiting sustained revival and investment activity is also recovering. Addressing a press conference later in the day, RBI governor Urjit Patel said the forecast of normal monsoon for 2018-19 augurs well for agriculture sector adding that adherence to budgetary targets by the Centre and the states will also ease upside risks to the inflation.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA has also approved construction of 9.9 kilometer long new six-lane bridge with its approaches across the river Ganga at Phaphamau, Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. The new bridge will facilitate a large congregation of people at Allahabad during Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh and yearly ritual bath at Sangam. It will generate direct employment during construction for about 9.20 lakh man days.

उत्तर प्रदेश में इलाहाबाद के पास फाफामऊ में गंगा नदी पर संपर्क सड़क के साथ छह लेन के नए पुल के निर्माण को मंजूरी दी है। इसकी कुल लम्बाई दस किलोमीटर होगी। नया पुल बनने से इलाहाबाद में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग-96 पर वर्तमान दो लेन के फाफामऊ पुल पर जाम की समस्या से निजात मिलेगी। इसे दिसंबर 2021 तक पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।

केंद्रीय मंत्री रवि शंकर प्रसाद ने इसे एक बहुत बड़ा फैसला बताया।

कैबिनेट ने एक बहुत बड़ा फैसला किया है कि इलाहाबाद के फाफामाऊ में गंगा के ऊपर छह लेन का ब्रिज की अनुमति दी। यह जो छह लेन का ब्रिज है यह अपने आप में बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। एक हजार नौ सौ अड़तालीस करोड़ रुपये इस पर खर्च होंगे और इलाहाबाद, फैजाबाद, इलाहाबाद से आगे और आपको मालूम है कुम्भ होने वाला है। उस दिशा से भी तीन साल में यह तैयार हो जाएगा।
