• Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds talks with his Singapore  counterpart Lee Hsien Loong; Both countries sign eight agreements; agree to increase air connectivity.

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी और सिंगापुर के प्रधानमंत्री ली सियेन लूंग की वार्ता के बाद दोनों देशों के बीच आठ समझौते, विमान सम्‍पर्क बढ़ाने पर भी बनी सहमति।

India and Singapore today signed eight agreements for enhancing cooperation in the areas of financial services, public administration, cyber security, combating drug trafficking, capacity building and training. The agreements were signed after high level bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong in Singapore today.

In a joint press statement after the talks, Mr. Modi said both the countries reviewed bilateral ties and decided to have a road-map to take the relationship forward.

"स्किल डेवलपमेंट, प्‍लानिंग और शहरी विकास के क्षेत्र में, हमारे सहयोग मेंअच्‍छी प्रगति हुई है। हमने भारत के 115 एसप्रेशनल डिस्‍ट्रिक्‍ट्स में पानी केलिए नई पहल की है। शुरूआत देखी है आज और कल हमने जो एग्रीमेंट किएहैं वे इस सहयोग को एक नए स्‍तर पर ले जाएंगे।"

The Prime Minister said air services agreement will also be reviewed for increasing air connectivity further. He said Indian companies can use Singapore as a springboard to reach ASEAN countries.

The Prime Minister said relations between India and Singapore are marked by cordiality and trust and both countries share concern over the challenges of cyber security, terrorism and extremism. Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said, Singapore can be a gateway for India to enter the South East Asian market. During his remarks at the joint press conference, Mr Lee said  both countries made significant progress in strategic partnership and economic ties are substantial. 

"We are collaborating an technology, smart cities and skills development. While Singapore which is a Global Fin.-Tech hub can be a gateway for India to enter south east Asian market. So we agreed to establish a joint working group on Fin-Tech to support this effort.  And we have launched, an initial link for payment systems between NETs and RuPay. So an up grate of this agreement will boost the business and tourism sectors and will bring out two people closer together."

The Singapore Prime Minister noted that the defence ties have strengthened with both the navies signing an agreement on logistic cooperation. Later, Mr Lee hosted banquet in honour of Prime Minister. Our correspondent covering the Prime Minsiter's visit has filed this report:

"The signing of agreements between India and Singapore demonstrate the resolve of the leadership of both countries to work together in areas of mutual interest. The agreements related to skill development will help the youth in both the countries to acquire advanced skills for employment. The agreement in the area of urban infrastructure helps to speed up smart cities project in India. भारत और सिंगापुर ने वित्‍तीय सेवाओं, लोक प्रशासन, साइबर सुरक्षा, मादक पदार्थों की तस्‍करी की रोकथाम, क्षमता निर्माण और प्रशिक्षण के क्षेत्र में सहयोग बढ़ाने के लिए आठ समझौतों पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए हैं। ये समझौते प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी और सिंगापुर के प्रधानमंत्री ली सियेन लूंग के बीच आज सिंगापुर में उच्‍चस्‍तरीय वार्ता के बाद किए गए।

बातचीत के बाद एक संयुक्‍त वक्‍तव्‍य में श्री मोदी ने कहा कि दोनों देशों ने द्विपक्षीय संबंधों की समीक्षा की और संबंधों को आगे ले जाने के लिए एक रोड मैप तैयार करने का फैसला किया। उन्‍होंने कहा कि समग्र आर्थिक सहयोग संबंधी समझौते की दूसरी समीक्षा पूरी हो चुकी है और दोनों देश आने वाले दिनों में इसे अद्यतन करने पर सहमत हो गए हैं।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि हवाई संपर्क को बढ़ाने के लिए विमान सेवा संबंधी समझौतों की भी समीक्षा की जाएगी। श्री मोदी ने कहा कि दोनों देश डिजिटल वित्‍तीय सेवाओं में भागीदारी के लिए उत्‍सुक हैं ।

डिजिटल इंडिया के तहत भारत में हम एक डेटा सेंटर पालिसी बनाएंगे। आज मैं नानियांग टेक्‍नोलोजी यूनिवर्सिटी में अनके समझौते होते हुए देखूंगा जो कि उच्‍च शिक्षा, साइंस और टेक्‍नोलोजी इनोवेशन में हमारे सहयोग को और बढाएंगे ।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि भारतीय कम्‍पनियां आसियान देशों तक पहुंचने के लिए सिंगापुर का इस्‍तेमाल स्प्रिंग बोर्ड की तरह कर सकती हैं। दोनों देश साइबर सुरक्षा, आतंकवाद और उग्रवाद की चुनौतियों को लेकर चिंतित हैं।

आने वाले समय में साइबर सिक्‍योरिटी और अतिवादी तथा आतंकवाद से निपटना हमारे सहयोग के महत्‍वपूर्ण क्षेत्र होंगे। हम इन्‍हें अपने देशों के लिए सबसे बड़े खतरों में मानते हैं। प्रधानमंत्री ली और मैंने वैश्विक और क्षेत्रीय चुनौतियों पर अपनी चिंताओं को साझा किया। हम दोनों ने मैरीटाइम सिक्‍योरिटी पर अपने सैद्धांतिक विचारों की पुन: पुष्टि की और रूल वेज आर्डर के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता दिखाई है।

सिंगापुर के प्रधानमंत्री ली सियेन लूंग ने कहा कि उनका देश भारत के लिए दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया के बाजारों में पहुंचने के लिए प्रवेश द्वार बन सकता है। संयुक्‍त संवाददाता सम्‍मेलन में उन्‍होंने कहा कि डिजिटल इंडिया कार्यक्रम और आधार का सफलतापूर्वक क्रियान्‍वयन सिंगापुर की वित्‍तीय टैक्‍नोलोजी कम्‍पनियों के लिए बाजार के अवसर उपलब्‍ध कराता है। रूपे कार्ड और सिंगापुर नेट की शुरूआत पर खुशी व्‍यक्‍त करते हुए श्री ली ने कहा कि इससे दोनों देशों के लोग ई-भुगतान कर सकेंगे। श्री ली ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी के सम्‍मान में भोज का आयोजन किया। हमारे संवाददाता की एक रिपोर्ट-----

प्रधानमंत्री श्री मोदी ने नन्‍यान टैक्‍नीकल विश्‍वविद्यालय का दौरा किया और विद्यार्थियों से बातचीत की। इस मौके पर नेशनल टैक्‍नोलोजीकल यूनिवर्सिटी-एनटीयू ने आईआईटी चेन्‍नई, आईआईटी मुम्‍बई, इंडियन इंस्‍टीच्‍यूट ऑफ साइंस बेंगलूर तथा इंडियन इंस्‍टीच्‍यूट ऑफ स्‍पेस एंड टैक्‍नोलोजी तिरूवंतपुरम के साथ शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में आदान प्रदान समझौते किए।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold high level bilateral talks with Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong on issues of mutual interest today. A gamut of strategic, economic and technological issues is likely to figure during their talks. Both leaders are expected to review the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement during their bilateral talks. India and Singapore will also sign and exchange agreements and MoUs in areas of higher education, capacity building, defence, urban infrastructure, people to people contacts followed by a joint statement. Mr. Modi who reached Singapore yesterday on the third and last leg of the three nation tour will also take part in a series of events today. He will call on Singapore President Halimah Yakub and visit Nanyang Technical University to interact with the Students. Later, in the day Mr Modi, will deliver a key-note address in the 18th Shangri La dialogue, a global platform that discusses security related issues in the Asia Pacific region. Mr Modi is the first Indian leader to deliver a key note address at this international forum. More from our correspondent: 

"The Shangri La dialogue, also known as Asia Security Summit is an annual meeting of defence ministers and senior military officials  from over 50 countries. Since its launch in 2002, the dialogue has built confidence and fostered security cooperation among the participant countries. The event, being  organised by London based International Institute for Strategic studies, highlights the emerging security challenges before the member countries for  detailed discussion. The forum offers Mr Modi just the right platform to articulate the definitive perspective from New Delhi on India’s interests in ensuring peace in the Asia Pacific region. • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohammad discuss ways to boost economic and cultural ties; Reaches Singapore on the final leg of his tour to South East Asia.

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी और मलेशिया के प्रधानमंत्री महातिर मोहम्मद ने आर्थिक और सांस्कृतिक संबंध मजबूत करने पर विचार विमर्श किया। श्री मोदी दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया की यात्रा के अंतिम चरण में सिंगापुर पहुंचे।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his newly-elected Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohammad at his office in the city of Putrajaya today. The two leaders discussed ways to boost economic and cultural relations between the two countries. In a tweet, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, Mr Modi congratulated Dr Mahathir on assuming the post of Malaysian Prime Minister. The spokesman said, Malaysia is a strategic partner and a priority country in India's Act East Policy.
In a tweet, Mr Modi thanked Dr Mahathir for the warm welcome and said they had productive discussions on further cementing India-Malaysia ties.

Later, Mr Modi reached Singapore on the final leg of his 3-nation tour to South East Asia. During his stay, Mr Modi will hold delegation level talks with his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong, and deliver the key-note address tomorrow at the 17th Shangri La Dialogue. He will be the first Indian leader to address the dialogue, which is a premier forum on security issues in the Asia-Pacific.

Today, Mr Modi and Mr Lee will tour an exhibition of local and Indian start-ups in areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech and cyber security in Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

Talking to AIR, High Commissioner of India in Singapore Javed Ashraf said, a number of agreements will be signed during Mr Modi's visit.

"We will have some government to government MoUs that will be done at the conclusion of bilateral summit betweem PM and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Then we will have some eight agreements that will be concluded at Nanyang Technological University between NTU and some of our finest institutions such as IITs and Indian Institute of Science and Indian Institute of Space Technology. These agreements will foster joint reseach, collaborations, capacity developments and joint PhDs etc."

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने मलेशिया के नवनिर्वाचित प्रधानमंत्री महासिर मोहम्मद से आज पुत्रजाया में उनके कार्यालय में भेंट की। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रवीश कुमार ने ट्वीट कर बताया कि दोनों नेताओं के बीच महत्वपूर्ण भागीदारी मजबूत करने के बारे में सार्थक बातचीत हुई। दोनों नेताओं ने आर्थिक और सांस्कृतिक सम्बन्ध बढ़ाने पर भी विचार विमर्श किया। श्री मोदी ने मलेशिया का प्रधानमंत्री पद ग्रहण करने के लिए डॉ0 मोहम्मद को बधाई दी। श्री कुमार ने बताया कि मलेशिया, भारत का महत्वपूर्ण भागीदार है और एक्ट ईस्ट नीति के अंतर्गत भारत इसे प्राथमिकता देता है। श्री मोदी तीन देशों की यात्रा के दूसरे चरण में आज सवेरे मलेशिया की राजधानी क्वालालम्पुर पहुंचे। संक्षिप्त यात्रा के दौरान श्री मोदी ने उप प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर वान अजीजाह वान इस्माइल और उनके पति से भी मुलाकात की।

श्री मोदी यात्रा के अंतिम चरण में आज दोपहर बाद सिंगापुर पहुंचे। वे आज शाम सिंगापुर के प्रधानमंत्री ली शिएन लुंग के साथ मरीना बे सैंटुय कनवेंशन सैंटर में स्थानीय और भारतीय स्टार्टअप्स की प्रदर्शनी देखने जाएंगे। ये स्टार्टअप्स आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, फिनटैक और साइबर सुरक्षा जैसे क्षेत्रों में काम कर रहे हैं।

श्री मोदी कल इस्ताना में सिंगापुर के राष्ट्रपति हलीमाह याकूब से मिलेंगे।  कल शाम वे शंग्रीला संवाद में मुख्य भाषण देंगे। एशिया-प्रशान्त में सुरक्षा के मुद्दों के इस प्रमुख मंच में मुख्य भाषण देने वाले वे पहले भारतीय नेता होंगे। सिंगापुर में भारत के उच्चायुक्त जावेद अशरफ ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि श्री मोदी की यात्रा के दौरान कई समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किये जाएंगे।

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी और सिंगापुर के प्रधानमंत्री ली शिएन लुंग के बीच द्विपक्षीय वार्ता पूरी होने पर दोनों देशों की सरकारों के बीच कई समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किये जायेंगे। लगभग आठ समझौते नानियांग तकनीकी विश्वविद्यालय में होंगे। ये एन टी यू और हमारे सर्वश्रेष्ठ संस्थान जैसे आई आई टी, भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान और भारतीय अंतरिक्ष तकनीकी संस्थान के बीच होंगे। ये समझौते साझा अनुसंधान, सहयोग, क्षमता विकास और साझी पी एच डी  को समृद्ध करेंगे।
